Just Do It!

Romans 8:39

Neither height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Lord, I wondered, why did you give me Carl to be my friend? You know how difficult he is to get along with. He contradicts everything I say; he=s always insisting that he knows better.

Long before I prayed that night, I struggled with my feelings. As a diligent Christian I petitioned; "Lord, help me to have a good attitude.

However, prayer is only one of many tools in our arsenal against the devil. Greater than our prayers is our Redeemer's continuing presence with us. Because God is the victor, we too can be conquerors over the sin in our life. That night I realized that God has given me the power to overcome my fears, and my attitude.

The Bible has promised us that we are equipped with the weaponry needed for battle; the Shield of Faith wherewith we know that God is on our side; The Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God, will help us discern what are actions should be; and the Helmet of Salvation reminds us that salvation is the Lord's and our victory is through him. When the world looks its bleakest we need to be reminded that we have God's power on our side.

Oh God, help us to recognize the sin in our lives, and that through You we shall overcome. Amen.
