The Cost

As Christians we must always do what is right. In some cases that might mean we die.

But know that there are values more important than life. And a Power that is greater than death.

  • That leads me back to considering one of my favorite scriptures.

Revelations 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Here is a parable that I wrote that speaks of the cost.

    The Bargain

There once was a lady who out of sheer restlessness had gone shopping, for she couldn’t think of a better way to abide her time. She hadn’t set out to look for anything in general – actually she had just intended to window shop.
She happened by a little shop that didn’t look very glamorous but there was something that beckoned her to it. Perhaps it was the smile she received from the salesgirl as she passed by the window, or perhaps it was the sign that said, “Free.” Maybe it was the peacefulness she could feel from the outside that caused her to venture inside. Once inside she marveled at a beauty her eyes had never before beheld, and felt a joy that was sheer delight.
“You must tell me all about this wonderful shop,” the lady earnestly spoke to the salesgirl whose sincere kindness had made her feel welcome.
“We market love,” the salesgirl told the interested lady. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth on Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. It is free, but the cost is great. It had cost Jesus, the Son of God, His life, to give us life, and if we truly love Him then we can give to Him no less than He freely paid for us.”
The lady looked inside of her heart and knew she would be honored to be privileged to pay the price for this glorious gift called, LOVE.
